Objectives:
The student will analyze given ellipses and graph them.
The student will write the equation for an ellipse given
   certain information.


1. Discuss homework and collect it.

2. Discuss examples from the day before that were not 
   explained.

3. Show Fox Trot comic strips about ellipses.

5. Eccentricity
    The eccentricity of an ellipse describes its shape --    
    how "round" it is.
    The eccentricity of an ellipse is a number between 0 
    and 1 (where 0 represents a circle and 1 is a line).

       

6. Assignment 
   Finish p. 761 (9a, 10a,b, 11b, 13a, 27a,b, 29b, 49)
