Lesson #95 Differential Equations

Quote of the Day:
"Among all of the mathematical disciplines the theory of
differential equations is the most important... It
furnishes the explanation of all those elementary
manifestations of nature which involve time."
   -- Sophus Lie

Objective:
The student will solve elementary differential equations.

1. Collect Homework.

2. Definition: A Differential Equation is an equation
                containing derivatives (or differentials).

3. Solving a Differential Equation means obtaining a
   function without derivatives or differentials.
We integrate to solve differential equations.

4. Show comic strips on Differential Equations.
        Comic strip by Harry Blair
        Fox Trot Comic strip

5. Assignment
   solve dy/dx = x/y given that if x = 1, y = 2
   p. 373 (63, 64, 69)
