Every January, the International Snow Sculpture Championships are held in Breckenridge, Colorado, where sculptors from around the world compete to create works of art from twenty ton blocks of snow.   Each team is given a block of snow, 10 feet x 10 feet x 12 feet high. The team is given a week to sculpt their masterpiece.

In the year 2000, a math snow sculpture won several prizes at Breckenridge.   A team from Macalester College, representing Minnesota, and sponsored by Wolfram Research won Second Prize at the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpture Competition, held from January 18-23, 2000.   Their entry was a model of the Enneper Surface, a minimal surface with "tremendous symmetry" and huge overhangs.
