A crossword sudoku is both a crossword puzzle and a sudoku puzzle,
and requires a combination of verbal and logic skills to solve.
The puzzle uses a set of nine unique letters (instead of the numbers 1 to 9).
To solve a crossword sudoku, first answer the answers to the clues
in the shaded squares as you would a normal crossword puzzle.
Then solve the resulting sudoku puzzle using the filled-in letters as the starting cells --
that is, fill the remaining white squares so that nine rows,
nine columns, and nine 3x3 squares each contain the nine unique letters.

Here are some tips for solving:
Since letter placement follows sudoku rules,
answers to the crossword clues will not contain the same letter more than once.
Also, once you have deduced all nine unique letters,
all of the remaining words will use only these letters and no others.
Finally, sudoku rules may be used to eliminate certain letter combinations
in order to help solve other words.
