The Austin Steam Train takes you on a journey through the Austin Hill Country. The Hill Country Flyer is the most popular train ride.   It is a 66 mile round-trip from Cedar Park to Burnet through the Texas Hill Country.   We enjoyed time for lunch, shopping, and a wild west show during the two and a half hour layover in Burnet.   The train, pulled by a 1960 Alco diesel locomotive, departs from the Cedar Park depot at 10:00am and travels to Burnet through the Texas Hill Country, crossing the wooden trestle bridge over the S. San Gabriel River and traveling through Short Creek Canyon.   The train returns to Cedar Park, arriving at about 4:00pm.

Gram and Pops visited here with their daughter Elizabeth and her family in March 2007.
