Like so many buildings in Nevada, the Capitol is a symbol of the Silver State’s history.   Completed in a year’s time from 1870-71, the structure is defined by its silver-colored dome and features Alaskan marble.   A bronze statue of Sarah Winnemucca, a 19th-century Paiute educator, advocate for Indian rights and the first Native woman to write a book, is on display in the lobby.

The Capitol serves the Governor and contains historical exhibits on the second floor, as well as the old Supreme Court Chambers and Assembly Chambers, which is now a public meeting room.

Elizabeth visited here in July, 2018 with her husband, daughter Kate, and Kate's friend Juliana.
