I first met Carol Jackson in 1964 in a calculus class at Hartwick College. It was her smile, her sense of humor, her intellect, and her empathy for others
that attracted me to her (also, her love of ice cream). She was the salutatorian of her high school class, and she was a mathematics major in college and
graduated with honors. Three days after graduating from Hartwick, we were married and we began our lifelong journey together. Carol always put her family first as can be seen in the photos in the links below. After teaching mathematics for three years, she resigned so that she could begin her own family. She raised three beautiful children -- Elizabeth, Michael, and Sarah -- and was always there to greet them when they came home from school. She volunteered in the schools and in the community. She was an assistant scout leader, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Youth Group leader, children's choir accompanist, Chancel Choir member, Hand bell Choir member, and chairman of the Helping Hands Committee. Carol volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a substitute teacher. When she retired to Colorado, she volunteered with S.A.I.N.T. for five years and worked with McBackpack for twelve years. She loved visiting family, lighthouses, and National Parks. She loved her cats and her grandchildren, and enjoyed sewing, working on jig-saw puzzles, and doing crossword puzzles. |
