Lesson #33
The Football Kick
An Application of
Parametric Equations

Quote of the Day:
"Mathematics is not a spectator sport."

Objectives:
The student will learn to take derivatives of parametric equations.

The student will apply parametric equations to a real life application.

1. Collect Homework - go over problems.

2. Hand out worksheets on the Football Kick Worksheet

Have students work together on this assignment.

3. Examine some computer-generated graphics which were created with parametric equations.

These equations are in three dimensions and define x, y, and z in terms of two parameters (usually angles u and v).
