Lesson #45
Graphs of Logarithmic and Exponential Functions

Quote of the Day:
"If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane; If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane." -- Jimmy Buffett

Objectives:
The student will graph exponential functions.

The student will graph logarithmic functions.

The student will solve exponential equations.

1. Go over homework and collect it.

2. Show that y = ln(x) and y = e^x are inverse functions of each other.

3. Graph y = e^x and y = ln(x) on the same axes. Show symmetry.

4. Examples of log problems:

6. Log jokes

(A) Lumberjacks make good musicians because of their natural logarithms.

(B) The answer to the problem was "log(1+x)". A student copied the answer from the good student next to him, but didn't want to make it obvious that he was cheating, so he changed the answer slightly, to "timber(1+x)."

7. Assignment:
