Lesson #85
Introduction to Integration
Quote of the Day:
"After years of finding mathematics easy, I finally reached
integral calculus and came up against a barrier. I
realized that this was as far as I could go, and to
this day I have never successfully gone beyond it in any
but the most superficial way." -- Isaac Asimov
Objectives:
The student will learn to take antiderivatives of
polynomial functions.
The student will begin to comprehend the connection between
differentiation and integration.
1. There are two branches of calculus:
(1) Differential Calculus whose process is
differentiation and
(2) Integral Calculus whose process is integration.
2. Review:

4. Show overhead transparencies - Trial and Error
Then generalize:
7. History of the Integral Sign -- "The Mintegral"
