Problem of the Month
Every carton weighs 16 kg plus 1/5 of a carton.
How much does a carton and a half weigh?
Solution to the Problem:
The answer is 30 kg.
Let c = weight of one carton.
Then c = 16 + (1/5) c.
Then 4/5 c = 16.
Then c = 20 kg.
So, a carton and a half = 30 kg.
