form a number. There are many solutions without brackets or parentheses, for example
1 + 234 × 5 × 6 ÷ 78 + 9 = 100

There are twin solutions with only five signs:12 + 345 x 6 + 7 - 8 x 9 = 2017
12 + 345 x 6 - 7 x 8 - 9 = 2017
However, James Alarie sent in six solutions that work:
12 + 345 * 6 + 7 - 8 * 9 = 2017
12 + 345 * 6 - 7 * 8 - 9 = 2017
1 + 2 * 34 * 5 * 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 = 2017
-1 + 2345 - 6 * 7 * 8 + 9 = 2017
-1 * 2 + 3 + 4 * 567 * 8 / 9 = 2017
-1 * 2 + 3 / 4 * 5 * 67 * 8 + 9 = 2017
And then James followed that up with the following email:
You knew I couldn't leave this one alone, so I reversed the digits
(987654321) to get another answer:
98 * 76 - 5432 + 1 = 2017
If you'll allow a zero at the end (at the beginning makes no sense.),
