My brother owns 400 acres of land in Kentucky.
His property is rectangular shaped with one side equal to 3,125 feet.

If he wishes to post "NO HUNTING" signs around the perimeter of his property every 50 feet, how many signs does he need?
There must be signs at all four corners of the property.

Solution to the Problem:

My brother will need 350 signs.

1 acre = 43,560 square feet.
So, the area of the rectangular property is 400 acres x 43,560 square feet = 17,424,000 square feet.
If the width of the rectangle is 3,125 feet, then the length must be 5,575.68 feet.
Dividing 5,575.68 feet by 50 feet yields 111.5136, so you would need 112 signs on the two longer sides of his property.
Dividing 3,125 feet by 50 feet gives 62.5, so you would need 63 signs on the two shorter sides of his property.

So, the total number of signs needed is 112 + 112 + 63 + 63 = 350 signs.
