Welcome to the Common Core Math Review Game. This is not a comprehensive test of the
assessment items but it will give you some good review practice for the Common Core Test.
There are two versions of the game:
(1) Travel through the 50 states of the U.S. while answering math questions and
(2) Travel through the schools in the Poudre School District while answering math questions
In either game, you must try to plan your journey so that you do not pass through a state
(or a school) a second time. If you do, the game ends.
The computer will choose a random state (or school) in which you will start. You will be told
which directions you may travel. There are eight directions: North, South, East, West,
Northeast, Nortwest, Southeast, and Southwest. You may use those words or just the
abbreviations N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, and SW. The only other commands that you can use
in the game are: SAVE (to save the current game), LOAD (to load a previously saved
game), SCORE (to see the score of your current game), HIGH (to view the high scores of
all games that have been played on your computer), QUIT (to exit the current game), and
HELP (to view these 22 commands).
A perfect score is 100. You receive one point for each state (or school) that you visit
and one point for each math question that you answer correctly. It would be a good idea
to have a map of the U.S. in front of you as you play (or a map of the Poudre Schools).
Both of these may be downloaded from the links above.
If you do not wish to play the game, you may use a different program and just answer the questions. The questions are not selected randomly as
in the games.
You must first download a zip file that contains the games and the data files (Select SAVE FILE). When the zipped folder is downloaded to your computer,
you must then extract the files and put them all in the same folder. The easiest way to do this is to go to the downloads folder
and double click on the core.zip folder (it should be the first item in the downloads list)
and it will open the contents of the folder. Then click on ALLQUEST.EXE (or any of the four EXE files) and it will display a message;
select EXTRACT ALL, and specify
the folder that you want them sent to. If you have any difficulty with this process, email me at MATHPAGE@GMAIL.COM and I can just email the files
to you instead.
Here is a list of all the files in the zipped folder called core.zip:
