Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park

The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park is 184.5 miles long.   Originally, the C&O Canal was a lifeline for communities and businesses along the Potomac River.   Today millions of visitors hike or bike the C&O Canal each year to enjoy the natural, cultural and recreational opportunities available.

There are hiking trails to suit everyone's taste, with more than 800 miles of trails throughout the park.   The park ranges in elevation from 2,000 to over 13,000 feet.   It is truly awe-inspiring.

Gram and Pops visited the Paw Paw tunnel in March 2006.
