Gateway Arch National Park commemorates the role of St. Louis in the westward expansion of the United States.
Architect Eero Saarinen designed the arch and the landscape surrounding the Gateway Arch, including the tree-lined walks, rolling hills, reflecting ponds,
and the grand staircase descending to the Mississippi River.
The central idea of the Gateway Arch is a catenary curve, the shape a chain makes when it is suspended between two points. The Arch is the tallest
man-made monument in the United States. Both its height and base width measure 630 feet.
Pops visited Gateway Arch National Park with his daughter Elizabeth in October 2023.
