Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords National Park features dramatic fjords, calving glaciers, and the massive 300 square mile Harding Ice field along with numerous marine wildlife.

You can view the Park from land by taking a short drive out to Exit Glacier, one of the most accessible glaciers in Alaska.   Most visitors experience Kenai Fjords from the sea by taking a day boat cruise from Seward.   We took a National Park Cruise with a Park Ranger on board.   On our six hour cruise, we saw two pods of humpback whales, two pods of Orcas (the Killer Whales), porpoises, harbor seals, sea otters, sea lions, a black bear, tufted puffins, gulls, and bald eagles.   The ranger kept saying that this was not normal to see that many different species on one trip.

Gram and Pops visited here in August 2012 with Gram's brother and his wife.
