Point Reyes National Seashore offers sand beaches, rocky coastline, ocean breakers, forests, and hiking trails.   The mix of commercial and recreational uses was the reason the area was designated a National Seashore rather than a National Park.

The San Andreas Fault runs through the park and you can hike along the earthquake trail that has numerous markers displaying earthquake information for both adults and children.

The Point Reyes Beaches -- North and South -- are too dangerous for swimming, but you can swim at Drakes Beach.

The Point Reyes Lighthouse is the foggiest point on the Pacific coast and the trail to get there includes 308 steps down to the lighthouse.

Gram and Pops visited here in August 2011.
